This fall is turning out to be jammed packed with great new music releases. One my favorite bands, The xx, have their new album Coexist dropping on September 11th. The news keeps getting better. The xx have also released their new single “Angels.”
2011 is nearly behind us. Many other blogs are focused on the past 2011 albums, but not me. 2012 is going to be a great year of indie rock and roll! I’ve compiled a short list of upcoming albums to drool over that should be dropping sometime in 2012.
I’m going through djing withdrawals again. I’ve started jonesing and getting the shakes. Lately, I’ve been falling into the spacey fantastic world of electro pop. Its great to dance to, relax to, and even better to study to.The other bizarre thing I find when I am on an electro pop binge is that it makes life feel like a movie. Everything is kinda special and unearthly. What it does is create a soundtrack to life, which is something special.
Good news! One of my favorite bands, The XX, is currently working on their second album! Their first album, xx, was released back in 2009. It blew my mind and heart away. I don’t think it left my car’s CD player for about a year. This album started small but quickly developed a cult following.
I was wondering around Barnes and Noble the other day. It was one of those trips where I go read all of the inside jacket covers of new books so I don’t actually have to buy the book. That way I still sound like I’ve read it. I was passing through the music area trying to figure out what was the popular band that mainstream mall goers were buying. “Oh look Pearl Jam has a new album out. Another Beatles Best of Album? Dear god how many more of those can they make? At some point every Beatles song ever written will have appeared on one of the Best Of’s. They had to of written one bad song.” But then one of my favorite bands started playing throughout the store. The xx‘s “Crystalized” was being piped in through the ceiling tiles. I started having one of those “shining” moments.
