The Roots Leak First Track from Upcoming LP

Author’s Note: If you have read my posts before you will know that I am a huge fan of The Roots, with today’s news I am one of the happiest music fans in the world right now. Normally I don’t get excited for “concept albums” but anytime we can get new and original work from The Roots I am willing to give it 10 to 15 listens before I make up my mind.

The Roots are releasing another album, undon, on Dec. 6th. This new project has sort of a refreshing twist, as it is a novel with a beat. The tracks are chapters in the short life of Redford Stephens (1974-1999). From what I understand the songs work back from his death to his birth.

It was a while ago, so most of the links that I had found were inactive. This only made me more determined to find it and my persistence payed off this week.

It isn’t much but I love hearing live freestyling, especially when it comes from a talented lyricist. The clip is a freestyle by Black Thought and Questlove gives him a beat on the table. Eventually Questlove drops a “Whoooooooooo Kid” in the background and Black Thought busts out. In order to salvage the set Whoo Kid gives Black Thought a beat and he brings it home.

T. William’s Top 10 Albums of Twenty Ten

T. William’s Top 10 Albums of Twenty Ten

Last week Rune posted his top ten for our readers here On the Couch, so now it is now my turn to submit in my list. Notice that we aren’t numbering our lists, because we don’t see the difference between number 10 and number two. If it makes the list then we are pretty sure it is an album that should be listened to, if you haven’t yet.

Later this month I would think that we will each select our album’s of the year, because we want show some more love to the album that we listened to the most.

Below are ten albums that were released in 2010 that I paid money for and religiously listed to throughout the year.
