Vinyl from T. William’s Vault Vol. I
Posted by T. William Gooch in Alternative, Electronic, Indie Rock, On The Couch Mixtape on June 5, 2011
Last week my girlfriend was perusing through my collection of vinyl and as she made her way through, the small yet diverse collection, she started to place albums aside that she would like to have copies of. At the time getting her a copy of the chosen didn’t seem like a very big project, because I had assumed that I had digital copies of all, if not most, of them.
The King is Dead: A Bad Review
Posted by musicthevanderwey in Alternative, Indie Rock, New Releases, The Decemberists on March 3, 2011
I have to get this off of my chest. I had a shocking revelation this morning! I never actually purchased The King Is Dead. That by itself is a bad review of an album. Normally, I would have pre-ordered the LP months and days before the drop date. Not this time. After hearing the single “Down by the Water” I had my doubts of the entire album. The fact is I have long been a dedicated Decemberists fan. But after The King Is Dead, I am not nearly as big of a fan. You can read my initial album response here. I explained that The King is Dead is a stripped down and folked up version of a normal Decemberist’s album.
Glurpy Love Songs

Well its that time of year again, Valentines Day is fast approaching. The one day out of the year when corporate America tells you to feel love. The one day out of the year where you are supposed to not be alone. The one day out of the year where you are supposed to compromise your own personal values and end up going home your creepy four foot two stalker. Why? Because no one should be alone on Valentines day. The TV is flooded with mind numbing commercials trying to get desperate guys to buy flowers for that special someone. In order to sell those flowers advertisers have paid testimonials from vaguely attractive women talking about how flowers make them feel “loved.” Every time I get flowers I immediately start to wonder if I am dieing or going to the hospital. Its a get better gift. If you really like someone I have some relationship Do and Do not Dos.
