Good news everyone! One of my favorite bands, Stars, has a brand new album dropping September 4th entitled The North. These guys have been around for a while and they release a new album every couple of years. The North will be Stars’ sixth studio album. I gotta say I am freaking excited.
Summer is over. Labor Day has come and past and I can finally put all of my bright colors and white back in the wardrobe and bust out the black! I want to go over some of my favorite albums of the summer and some new releases that were disappointments. For me, this summer didn’t have any major new albums that stole my heart. I was listening to a lot of the albums that came out last summer. Mainly The Thermals, Stars, and The Dead Weather.
The Bedroom Demos have been released today!
There are some bands that are so good that all I seem to do is get overly excited and start waiting for their next release. Stars is one of those bands. I first got hooked back in late 2004 when, one of my all time favorite albums, Set Yourself On Fire was released. I loved the lyrics, the song complexity, and the use of stringed instruments in that album. The one tracks that will always stick with me is the venerable “Your Ex-Lover Is Dead.” I love Stars, and I am still taken aback by the sheer rock awesomeness of the newly released The Bedroom Demos. A couple interesting details about this demo album. First this is the original recording of In Our Bedroom After The War, recorded in the great city of Montreal. The official album version was rerecorded in Vancouver months later.
