2011 is nearly behind us. Many other blogs are focused on the past 2011 albums, but not me. 2012 is going to be a great year of indie rock and roll! I’ve compiled a short list of upcoming albums to drool over that should be dropping sometime in 2012.
Record Store Day on Black Friday

I have never been one to go out on Black Friday but with Record Store Day being the same day, I just might have to act like the rest of the American public.
Record Store Day Preview

My favorite holiday is fast approaching! Record Store Day is this Saturday April 16th. This is the one day out of the year we come together to celebrate our dying local record store. Your local participating record store may have live in store acts throughout the day. Be sure to go out and check to see who is playing. What makes Record Store Day special, besides the live acts, are the special releases. Bands come together and release a live concert or some rare b – sides. The complete list of releases can be found here. But I’ve gone through the list and picked the best new releases.
Franz Ferdinand Covers EP!

I love covers. The ability for a band to take a song that you have already heard a million times, a song you have probably already fallen in love with and and bring it back to life in a new light, is one of the pinnacles of a good band. Good news though! One of my favorite bands Franz Ferdinand is going to be a subject of an EP of some of their best known songs covered by such greats as LCD Sound System and the Magnetic Fields. The EP is set to be released on Record Store day, which is April 16th. I love hearing songs that I already love changed and rearranged by a band I already like, such as LCD Sound System and The Magnetic Fields. It brings a new perspective to a song that has, frankly, gotten stale.
