My favorite holiday is fast approaching! Record Store Day is this Saturday April 16th. This is the one day out of the year we come together to celebrate our dying local record store. Your local participating record store may have live in store acts throughout the day. Be sure to go out and check to see who is playing. What makes Record Store Day special, besides the live acts, are the special releases. Bands come together and release a live concert or some rare b – sides. The complete list of releases can be found here. But I’ve gone through the list and picked the best new releases.

Peter, Bjorn, and John will be releasing their sixth full length release in March, titled Gimme Some. In order to build some hype for the trio they have released a video for their first single “Breaker, Breaker”.
It has everything a first single should have, a catchy hook, up tempo, and ridiculously cool video. I have to admit that other than “Young Folks” there wasn’t anything from the group that I paid much attention to, but this track is promising I just hope the rest of the LP is on the same level.

Peter, Bjorn, and John – “Young Folks”
I remember the first time I heard this tune and that I for the next two weeks I could not stop whistling. It is light and airy and is sure to get your Monday mornin’ off to a great start.
