I’m going through djing withdrawals again. I’ve started jonesing and getting the shakes. Lately, I’ve been falling into the spacey fantastic world of electro pop. Its great to dance to, relax to, and even better to study to.The other bizarre thing I find when I am on an electro pop binge is that it makes life feel like a movie. Everything is kinda special and unearthly. What it does is create a soundtrack to life, which is something special.
Music To Commute To

With the weather being so nice I have started to ride my bike to work with more regularity. This has allowed me to really explore some new music since I like to throw the head phones on while I bike. The last week has been filled with the sounds of XV‘s Zero Heroes mixtape. It has enough energy to give you a boost when you need it to get over the next hill, but at the same time it has some great tunes that are perfect for cruising.

So, been crazy busy with my day job and traveling for some family events. In that time I missed the drop of Chiddy Bang‘s latest mixtape Peanut Butter and Swelly. I’ve written about them before and if you aren’t aware of who they are I am sure you have unknowingly heard some of their tracks.
I just wanted to make sure all of our readers know that the mixtape is our there and you can download for free through the play below. The stuff is upbeat and will def get you ready for the weekend and some warm weather.
Weekends are Awesome…

Holy crap it seems like forever since we last posted some hip-hop on the blog. Spring in rolling in it is time for some feel good music for sure and I think I have just the suggestion for our readers.
I first heard XV about a year and a half ago, when I downloaded his 30 Minute Layover mixtape. It was kind of weird because I was listening to Chiddy Bang’s Air Swell mixtape and both have a lot of references to the culture of air travel. So it felt like everything I was listening to was talking about layovers, single serving drinks, and neck pillows. After a couple of months of listening I was hooked on XV’s style. He does a great job of using witty references to nerd culture at the same time keeping his edge.
M’n F’n Mixtape Friday

Oh crap it is spring, baseball opened yesterday then three new mixtapes have dropped in the last two days. For those who don’t know I am a huge fan of baseball and the Chicago Whit Sox. I know, I know how does a middle class white male who grew up in Montana become a White Sox fan? In one word, Bo Jackson. When he started playing for the South Side and they made a run to the ALCS I knew my team was destined to be the Pale Hose. Paste Magazine had a great blog about indie artists and their love of baseball, check it out here.
Ok enough about baseball and on to the mixtapes. First off Child Gambino dropped I Don’t Talk yesterday and in true Donald Glover fashion it is witty, fun, and smooth. Then early this morning On the Couch favorite K.Flay released three new tracks from her I Stopped Caring in ’96 mixtape. I looks like she will be releasing the work in three volumes and today was the unveiling of vol. 1. Then last but not least is Xaphoon Jones, mix master of the Chiddy Bang duo, released Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 2 this afternoon.

We are feeling the holiday spirit here On the Couch and thought we could give our listeners a gift. Sure, you can come and listen to tunes here on the blog, but what do you do when you’re not on internet? In order to keep you jamming when you’re away we’re giving you the gift of a mixtape.
If you haven’t heard of Sam Adams yet, you will soon. Boston’s Boy is gaining steam across the country with his dubstep hip-hop style. He dropped Party Records with DJ Whoo Kid and DJ J. Cash back on September, needless to say the tape is hot as fire now-a-days.
