Radio Lives (in Ohio)
Posted by Laura in Alternative, Indie Rock on June 4, 2011
Does anyone actually listen to the radio anymore? I don’t – at least, not where I live. You’d think the Bay Area, being the Mecca of concerts, clubs and festivals that it is, would have the resources to offer a decent array of local radio options. Unfortunately, Linkin Park has been in heavy rotation on the area’s only alternative station long enough for me to know this isn’t the case. Perhaps I’m being too nostalgic, but I miss the days when we were introduced to awesome new bands by a live DJ instead of Pandora, Sirius, or TV Channel 900.
Record Store Day Preview

My favorite holiday is fast approaching! Record Store Day is this Saturday April 16th. This is the one day out of the year we come together to celebrate our dying local record store. Your local participating record store may have live in store acts throughout the day. Be sure to go out and check to see who is playing. What makes Record Store Day special, besides the live acts, are the special releases. Bands come together and release a live concert or some rare b – sides. The complete list of releases can be found here. But I’ve gone through the list and picked the best new releases.

The first day of spring has come and gone and there still is snow on the ground here in Utah, but I am not letting it get to me. No matter the weather the announcement of summer tours and new releases will always brighten my day.
Earlier this week during a phone conversation with Rune (Music the Vander Wey), we were discussing the possibility of him traveling down I-90 to see some shows. At the time I had no idea of what was coming but I knew that if I picked up the latest In Utah This Week I would get the 411.
