As a new contributor to On the Couch, I realize that my first blog entry must be one to prove my input is worthy and kick-ass, so with that in mind, I introduce:

Never before in my life have I been able to keep my iPod playing on a single artist for as long as I have with August Burns Red. They’re literally the perfect mix of everything that you’d love to hear in a Hard Rock / Metal / Whatever band, with unique guitar riffs, pounding double pedal, and the vast range in vocals, prepare to have your mind absolutely blown.

The Hush Now


Last week on my radio show, Music The Vander Wey, I encountered The Hush Now for the first time. I played a wonderfully poppy indie rock track entitle “The Other Ones”. It had just enough pop-flavor to get stuck in my head for a couple of days. The aforementioned track is off the Boston indie rock quintet’s newest EP Shiver Me Starships. Although out of the six songs on EP, it was “For What It’s Worth” that left the biggest impression on me.

“For What It’s Worth” is a fantastic track because its slower, spacier, and perfect to chill out with after a hard day. In fact, I’m embarrassed to report that I actually had an emotional response to the song the first time I listened to it while staring at a sunset. It’s a fantastic tune and a quality introduction to the band.
