Peanut Butter & Swelly Time!

So, been crazy busy with my day job and traveling for some family events. In that time I missed the drop of Chiddy Bang‘s latest mixtape Peanut Butter and Swelly. I’ve written about them before and if you aren’t aware of who they are I am sure you have unknowingly heard some of their tracks.

I just wanted to make sure all of our readers know that the mixtape is our there and you can download for free through the play below. The stuff is upbeat and will def get you ready for the weekend and some warm weather.

M’n F’n Mixtape Friday

Oh crap it is spring, baseball opened yesterday then three new mixtapes have dropped in the last two days. For those who don’t know I am a huge fan of baseball and the Chicago Whit Sox. I know, I know how does a middle class white male who grew up in Montana become a White Sox fan? In one word, Bo Jackson. When he started playing for the South Side and they made a run to the ALCS I knew my team was destined to be the Pale Hose. Paste Magazine had a great blog about indie artists and their love of baseball, check it out here.

Ok enough about baseball and on to the mixtapes. First off Child Gambino dropped I Don’t Talk yesterday and in true Donald Glover fashion it is witty, fun, and smooth. Then early this morning On the Couch favorite K.Flay released three new tracks from her I Stopped Caring in ’96 mixtape. I looks like she will be releasing the work in three volumes and today was the unveiling of vol. 1. Then last but not least is Xaphoon Jones, mix master of the Chiddy Bang duo, released  Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 2 this afternoon.

Dear Bozeman

Dear Bozeman,

Where do you get off, inviting amazing hip-hop acts after I have moved away? For five years I lived within your city limits and never did you think to bring music artist that would peak my interest. You sir are a jerk of the highest order… By now you must know I am kidding and have only great things to say about you Bozeman, but you could have at least told me that Chiddy Band was coming so I could have joined in on the celebration.

From Utah with jealousy,
- T. William Gooch

Late last night I was scanning my Twitter feed and received some info that has me feeling a little left out, @realchiddy posted “six am flight for Montana tomorrrro. Bozeman we comin!”. It turns out Chiddy Bang is playing the Chamberlin Rail Jam in Bozeman, Mont. this weekend. As an added bonus XV will be there too, damn I wish I was going.

T. William’s Top 10 Albums of Twenty Ten

T. William’s Top 10 Albums of Twenty Ten

Last week Rune posted his top ten for our readers here On the Couch, so now it is now my turn to submit in my list. Notice that we aren’t numbering our lists, because we don’t see the difference between number 10 and number two. If it makes the list then we are pretty sure it is an album that should be listened to, if you haven’t yet.

Later this month I would think that we will each select our album’s of the year, because we want show some more love to the album that we listened to the most.

Below are ten albums that were released in 2010 that I paid money for and religiously listed to throughout the year.

Mixtapes Yo

Ok full disclosure… I never understood why people always talked about mixtapes. I had never listened to one, let alone owned one, until earlier this year. Now I think I understand why they are so important to fans and artists. The mixtape allows the artist to release something that already has some cred because they are flowin’ over a recognizable track and then play with lyrics without the record label controlling how the disc is presented. It also gives the fan a feeling of exclusivity because this mix will not be widely distributed.
