The Cribs On Daytrotter

In a little less than a week I get to go see my favorite band, The Cribs, play in Boston. For the past couple of months I’ve been gushing about how fantastic their new album, In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull is going to be. It just so happens that one of my favorite music websites, Daytrotter, live streamed The Cribs session on their website. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Easter Monday than sitting back and listening to a live recording session with The Cribs.

Come On And Be A No One

Well I finally hurt myself singing. All thanks to The Cribs latest rocking single coming off of their upcoming album In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, entitles “Come On Be And No One.” The Cribs released this single back at the end of February, and ever since I cannot go a single day without it.

Last week, The Cribs released a video to go along with “Come On And Be A No One.” I just have to say how great it is to listen to a band that is real. I don’t want to get into a debate about what is and what isn’t real. But the simple fact of the matter is The Cribs go to great lengths to just play the track how they would live. Most other band’s tracks are edited by computers and witchcraft. “Come On And Be A No One” is pure unadulterated brilliance.

Now Presenting: Turf War

All winter, I’ve felt like I’ve been locked in a dance hall and forced to listen to top forties till my ears bleed. Thank god its spring time and I can escape! The only way to purge yourself of that non-sense is to buckle down with some punk rock. A couple of months ago I started listening to this fantastic indie punk band called Turf War. They have one album that dropped back in October entitled Years Of Living Dangerously. With warm weather on the horizon, there is nothing like letting yourself go with some good head banging punk rock.

La Sera – Sees The Light

I’m back baby!! Early March is always a very hard time for me because my day job revolves around college basketball and we all know how distracting March Madness can be :) . After a week and a half on the road, my mind is packed full of ideas on artists to write about. So before my head explodes I have to tell you all about La Sera.

Le Sera is a project by Katy Goodman (Vivian Girls, All Saints Day) and she is set to release Sees the Light, a follow-up to last year’s self titled album, on March 27th. Usually “side projects” don’t get past the first album, so that should be a great indication to you that the new work has got to be worth a listen.

New Radiohead Songs!

Every time I hear a new Radiohead song I have a religious awakening. It’s like finding out there really is a Santa Clause. Radiohead has been playing two new songs during their tour for King Of Limbs. No word yet if these new songs, entitled “Identikit” and “Cut a Hole,” will be included in their next album or an EP. Take a listen they sound pretty great. I can’t wait to hear them on an album!

Now Presenting: Love Is Chemicals

Alright its time to fall into the deep fiery chasm of hipster indie rock. I’ve been going back through my music library and listening and re-listening to numerous bands. I’m sitting back and waiting for numerous albums to drop this spring, in the mean time I’m killing time. This week, I’ve stumbled onto one of my obscure favorites from back in 2008, an album called Song of The Summer Youth Brigade from the awesome band Love Is Chemicals.
