I am an independent mind that is dependent on being validated by reality. Stuck between the Wasatch Front and the Great Salt Lake has caused me to question whether or not I truly exist. Music seems to be my life line to the minds that surround me in this primordial soup.

This blog was started to placate my need to emit an opinion on music. At the beginning I thought  that it was more for myself than anything, but in the end I enjoy hearing that my suggestions, information, and opinion are appreciated by others.

The thought of adding others to one blog to help contribute content had never crossed my mind, until my good friend Mike asked if I would like to work together on such a venture. I was immediately inspired by the idea and thought to include one more member to the squad. Rune is also a good friend whom was nice enough to let me sit in on his radio shows on KGLT and spin some records. Now we are in the developmental stages of the new blog.

Below you can learn a little bit more about the new members of the “On the Couch” squad.

Rune Vander Wey

Rune rose out of the primordial ooze and onto the radio scene in August 2004. Since then, he has been bringing the best and most innovative indie rock to the masses every other Friday from 6 to 9 PM on KGLT.

- Wherever someone is disgusted by classic rock, Rune will be there with offerings of contemporary alternatives.
- Wherever someone is sick of hearing the same top 40 song, Rune will be there with a rarely heard b-side.
- Whenever rock seems to be a soulless corporate shill, Rune will be there to bring life again unto that hollow body.

Laura Dillon

I think On The Couch staff must’ve gotten tired of being lambasted by poor-quality cell phone video and indecipherable texts every time I saw or heard some amazing new tune, so they’ve decided to let me write about it here instead.

I look forward to sharing my musical picks here On The Couch because as we all know, the only thing greater than seeing/hearing/discussing/throwing back brewskies with your favorite band is sharing the experience with a friend who’s just as crazy about music as you are.

Dan Warden

I am a musician and an artist. I have been playing and writing music for about 15 years. As an artist, I don’t want to be famous, or infamous.  I don’t want to be fashionable or fascist. I just want to connect. Good art becomes great art when experienced. I love listening to, playing, talking about, complaining about, arguing about, and sharing music.
