Now Presenting: Breton

It’s good to get my hands on some new music, particularly music that is very difficult to categorize. Such as Other People’s Problems the first full length album from the English indie rock group Breton. I really dig it.

Since it’s been so long since I wrote my last post, I knew that I had to write on someone absolutely amazing. Although many artists came to mind, one stood out from the crowd. I knew I had to bring in someone new with something different… And so, ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Dkay.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, raised in Calgary, Alberta, and now at 18 years old he resides in Vancouver City, British Columbia, where he has most recently released his hits “VanCity Sh*t” and “College Party”.
Mumford & Sons Newsflash
Posted by musicthevanderwey in Alternative, Indie Rock, New Releases on July 30, 2012
Go ahead and mark down September 24th as the big day that Mumford & Sons big sophomore album, Babel, drops. There is still scant information on what the album is going to sound like or even if Mumford & Sons is going to be headed in a new direction. But I was able to find the official track listing for Babel:

This fall is turning out to be jammed packed with great new music releases. One my favorite bands, The xx, have their new album Coexist dropping on September 11th. The news keeps getting better. The xx have also released their new single “Angels.”

It has been a busy summer. I’ve been neglecting my constant search for new music. Every so often the search is made easy. The Killers have a new album dropping sometime in the fall. Its entitle Battleborn.

Good news everyone! One of my favorite bands, Stars, has a brand new album dropping September 4th entitled The North. These guys have been around for a while and they release a new album every couple of years. The North will be Stars’ sixth studio album. I gotta say I am freaking excited.
Best Coast The Only Place: Album Of The Summer
Posted by musicthevanderwey in Alternative, Indie Pop, New Releases on June 15, 2012
This post is really a bold prediction. Summer has barely started and already a number of staff writers, here at On The Couch, have voiced an opinion that Best Coast‘s latest and greatest album, The Only Place, is crowned album of the summer!
Album of the summer is traditionally an album that embodies the summer of a particular year. I can remember back to the summer of 2005, Motion City Soundtrack‘s second album was forever jammed into my car’s stereo. 2004 was The Killers’ iconic Hot Fuss. The album has to be great enough so that when you hear it or think about it your mind immediately wonders back in time to a happier place.
Silversun Pickups: Neck Of The Woods

I have to admit that I am facing a bit of writer’s block when it comes to this Neck Of The Woods. Why? I just don’t know exactly how I feel about it. Upon the first listen, all I could make out that the album is dramatically different from previous releases from Silversun Pickups.
Before I even get a chance to hear the first song, I notice that the album art is completely different from any thing before, which is a serious bummer. Swoon and Carnavas had beautiful inspiring album art. It was so cool that it was even reflected and reproduced on the tour t-shirts! Why ruin a good thing?
In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull

This is the hardest blog post I’ve ever had to pen. It is so tempting to just gush for pages about how incredible In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull really is. (That is exactly what I ended up doing) But the fact of the matter is, The Cribs are my favorite band. Sometimes I think they can do no wrong. So if you are looking for an objective review of ITBOTBB look elsewhere.
I have been told numerous times from people in the music business that
