Well it is Sunday morning and I find myself inspired to write. I don’t know what it is about waking up to cool mornings with a cup of coffee that injects me with the spirit to type out my thoughts on this laptop. Maybe because hot mornings rob you of your motivation, while the cooler temp reminds us that summer is ending and that we need to soak up any and all opportunities to feel alive. This morning I would like to share Wiretree with you, our readers, and hopefully you enjoy their song stylings as much as I do.
Austin’s Wiretree began as the solo recording project of singer-songwriter Kevin Peroni. After releasing the LP Bouldin in 2007, Peroni recruited Joshua Kaplan on guitar, Rachel Peroni on bass and Daniel Blanchard on drums to solidify the project. The band is currently supporting their 3rd full length album Make Up.
For their latest album the group as retreated from using over dubs during their recording process, in favor of capturing the spirit of a live performance. For Make Up they played and recorded each song together on one take, and I think you can notice the desired effect. Most of the songs on the album have a very 60′s feel, moving from anthem tracks to country ballads, then switching gears to powerpop.
The Make Up EP will not be released until Sept. 6th. The group will be supporting the release with a tour, with a majority of the dates in Texas. Until then take a listen to the two samples I have for you today. Enjoy!
