Through the years of music that I have lived to hear and experience, there are many bands that are able to make me click the “repeat” button. In my more recent years, though, with my new tastes in music and such, there has only been a handful that I could never get away from if I tried. Asking Alexandria happens to be one of them.
Asking Alexandria is a heavy metal band that hails from North Yorkshire, England, with the appearance of an 80’s hair band, and more talent than 95% of most mainstream artists out there. They were actually the very first band that I heard to start mixing a little bit of electronic music into their metal routine, and they’ve continued to make it work. I have been absolutely in love with Asking Alexandria since the very first time I heard them, and when I bought Stand Up and Scream in September, 2009 (their first full length studio album) I couldn’t believe the amount of talent within the band. The album had some of the sickest breakdowns, guitar riffs, and double pedal goodness that I had ever heard. One thing I really enjoy about Asking Alexandria is that their screamer, Danny Worsnop, is also the singer, which is unique compared to many other bands that I know of.
On April 5th of this year, my wish was granted, and Asking Alexandria released their second studio album, Reckless and Relentless. And just to give you a hint of how much I do love these guys, I had this album pre-ordered for some time before it even dropped, and I ended up getting the bundle the day before the album hit stores! I listened to this album, if I counted correctly, 6 times the day I got it. Since its release, it’s been one of the albums to stay on “repeat” and it will continue to until the next album release.
If any of you from Asking Alexandria end up reading this, you guys kick some serious ass, and I’m looking forward to Warped Tour in August. For the rest of you reading this, there’s probably an FYE or Best Buy down the street… if you catch my drift.
