In the passing weeks I have been doing a lot of watching television, mostly college and professional football. That tends to happen to me when the temperature starts to drop. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t cold here in the beehive state, but the leaves are turning and autumn is definitely here to stay.
That is great T. Will but what does that have to do with music and this blog?
Well in all the hours of t.v. watching I noticed a new commercial that the NFL produced, promoting its “Play 60″ campaign. The reason the ad jumps out to me is that the music used in the background sounded eerily familiar. It reminded me of The GO! Team but the track was one that I had never heard. I was only aware of one album, so I am by no means a superfan of the ensemble, but I did enjoy “Proof of Youth”.
So after one quick YouTube search I found the commercial and learned that I was indeed correct about the artist of the song. The track is titled the Power Is On from their 2004 release “Thunder, Lighting, Strike”. Here is the ad for your viewing pleasure.
You’ll have to watch the vid on YouTube

After this recent rediscovery I had to go back and listen to some more of their work. In doing so I found out that the group is planning on releasing a new album in January titled “Rolling Blackouts“. In order to build the hype for the new album they have released their newest single. I must say that it is classic GO! Team, a marching band feel with a catchy flow meandering in the background. Check out T.O.R.N.A.D.O. for yourself.

As a bonus here is my favorite track off the “Proof of Youth” album Grip Like a Vice.
